Action Alert: Pelosi’s Democrats Set to Raise YOUR Taxes

In the next 48 hours, the US House of Representatives is set to vote on President Obama’s cap and trade energy program. This program, sponsored by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) is actually a liberal cap and TAX system that will force you to pay higher taxes every time you use energy. Every time you switch on a light, turn on your computer or TV, every time you drive your car or feed your family, you will be paying higher taxes no exceptions.
And this, from a president who promised that he would not raise taxes on the middle class at all, “not one dime.” The Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill raises energy taxes on EVERYONE. The Wall Street Journal has dubbed this broken promise of a bill the largest tax increase in American history. The Heritage Foundation estimates that nationwide job losses resulting from this bill will be in the millions.
As if to pile on insult to insanity, the same bill that will raise YOUR taxes sends $4 billion to Brazil to keep people from cutting down trees. That’s YOUR money. Is this how you want it spent?
Cap and tax will kill jobs in Texas across many job sectors. Cap and tax will hurt Texas families trying to cope with the effects of the recession. Cap and tax will strike every family and every business across this state and across America, large or small, right in the pocketbook. Cap and tax will be a disaster for our ailing economy. Yet Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats are set to pass it this weekend and President Obama has promised to sign it. That is one promise he actually intends to keep.
Our Republican House members must stand together against this bill. Call your representative and tell them that you support them if they fight Waxman-Markey. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Waco) Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-San Antonio) must choose between the liberals whose far-left legislation threatens to strangle our economy, or the Texans who voted them into office and who want to keep our state free of these destructive leftwing policies. Rep. Edwards and Rep. Rodriguez need to hear from YOU, immediately. Tell them that you OPPOSE the Waxman-Markey bill.
