Action Alert: Pelosi’s Democrats Set to Raise YOUR Taxes

In the next 48 hours, the US House of Representatives is set to vote on President Obama’s cap and trade energy program. This program, sponsored by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) is actually a liberal cap and TAX system that will force you to pay higher taxes every time you use energy. Every time you switch on a light, turn on your computer or TV, every time you drive your car or feed your family, you will be paying higher taxes no exceptions.
And this, from a president who promised that he would not raise taxes on the middle class at all, “not one dime.” The Waxman-Markey cap and trade bill raises energy taxes on EVERYONE. The Wall Street Journal has dubbed this broken promise of a bill the largest tax increase in American history. The Heritage Foundation estimates that nationwide job losses resulting from this bill will be in the millions.
As if to pile on insult to insanity, the same bill that will raise YOUR taxes sends $4 billion to Brazil to keep people from cutting down trees. That’s YOUR money. Is this how you want it spent?
Cap and tax will kill jobs in Texas across many job sectors. Cap and tax will hurt Texas families trying to cope with the effects of the recession. Cap and tax will strike every family and every business across this state and across America, large or small, right in the pocketbook. Cap and tax will be a disaster for our ailing economy. Yet Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats are set to pass it this weekend and President Obama has promised to sign it. That is one promise he actually intends to keep.
Our Republican House members must stand together against this bill. Call your representative and tell them that you support them if they fight Waxman-Markey. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-Waco) Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-San Antonio) must choose between the liberals whose far-left legislation threatens to strangle our economy, or the Texans who voted them into office and who want to keep our state free of these destructive leftwing policies. Rep. Edwards and Rep. Rodriguez need to hear from YOU, immediately. Tell them that you OPPOSE the Waxman-Markey bill.
Rep. Chet Edwards District 17 office: (254) 752-9600.
Rep. Ciro Rodriguez District 23 office: (210) 922-1874.
Help stop this destructive bill NOW.

Democrats and Crime

Earlier this week, I saw a headline, on AOL, entitled the “25 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in America”. The list was compiled by Dr. Andrew Schiller and the NeighborhoodScout.com and is based on FBI statistics. Dr. Schiller’s study took into account the following violent crimes: murder, forcible rape, non-negligent manslaughter, aggravated assault and armed robbery.

As I perused the list, I thought I began to see a certain commonality, regarding the cities, in which the neighborhoods are located. Take a look at the following list and see if you notice a trend.

Accountability

It is time that we start insisting on accountability. It is time that we begin holding people and organizations responsible for their actions.
Here are a few examples, of what I mean:
1. My local newspaper continues, to falsely blame the United States, in general, and Texas, in particular, for the gun problem in Mexico. In a five day period, the San Antonio Express-News has published three articles implying that nearly 90%, of the firearms confiscated, in the Mexico’s drug war, can be traced to the United States. The majority of them coming from Texas. What the articles do not say is that only about 20% of the weapons confiscated can be traced at all. This means that less than 18%, of the total weapons confiscated can be traced, to the United States. The truth is not quite the same as the printed word.
• What will I do, to hold the newspaper accountable? I will cancel my subscription and not patronize its advertisers.
2. The Democratic Party, here in Texas, has been successfully fighting legislation that would require a photo ID, to prove eligibility, to vote in local, state and federal elections. One of our most venerated rights continues to be subject to fraud.
• What will I do to hold them accountable? I will do my utmost to support candidates who run in opposition, to legislators who continue to fight the voter photo ID legislation.
3. There are number of states that do not recognize my 2nd Amendment rights, and thus do not permit me, to protect myself while, in their jurisdictions. Illinois and Wisconsin do not even recognize the 2nd Amendment rights of their own citizens. While the laws of California, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York do permit concealed carry, their restrictive permitting processes, result in de facto prohibitions.
• What will I do to hold them accountable? None of my dollars will go to Disneyland, Napa Valley, The Windy City, The Big Apple, et al. I will not visit my brother’s home, in New Jersey or my sister’s home, in Maryland. When my daughter graduates from law school in California, I will drive in, for the ceremony and drive out the same day.
People and organizations must be made to know that there are consequences for their actions and inactions.
